The scene begins with an extreme close up, focusing on Jordana’s face from the neck up, cutting off the top of her head and then the sides of her hair. After that short scene, Oliver is seen walking across from Jordana in a medium shot trying to make eye contact with her figure. The use of the parallel lines in this scene constantly draws your eyes to follow Oliver’s movements. It is then followed by a wide shot of Oliver walking across from her under the bridge, and then a medium shot of him walking up to Jordana from behind. The camera then flips around on Oliver where it goes from a medium shot to a close up on each of the character’s faces from the shoulders up. This is followed by an extreme close up on Jordana’s hands holding the cigarette and then on her eyes, followed by close up shot of Oliver looking terrified and then again to Jordana looking confident. The scene is then followed by a wide shot to a medium shot, resting on an over the shoulder look of Oliver from Jordana’s shoulder. The next scenes where Oliver is kneeled down and Jordana and him are talking follows the 180 degree rule by flipping the camera on each character to maintain their eye contact. Jordana then kneels down so they’re matching heights where it goes from a wide shots, to close up shots, to extreme close up shots all in the matter of a couple of seconds. The cuts are very quick, there are extreme close ups on the camera clicking as they kiss and as the polaroids fall down, on Oliver’s hand squeezing the suitcase, on Jordana’s hand on Oliver’s head, then on the couple themselves looking wide eyed at the camera. Mixed into these sequences are long shots of them from a distance. The color is very monochromatic except for Jordana’s red jacket which gives her a sense of power throughout the film. The shots are also organized in a very specific and quick manner holding onto the feeling of fear and excitement that these characters are feeling while also maintaining the light-hearted and dry comedy aspect.
